The Two Senior Officers Instants Prior to the Attacker Was Tasered

One senior officer who jumped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knifeman has been awarded the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage shared by the force revealed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.

He collided with the officer who tripped and went down to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground even though being continually attacked with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft Stopped the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Electric Weapon

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the fight to an finish.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his throat and additional wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster suffered cut injuries.

Authorities stated Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his colleague's bleeding before medical personnel reached the scene.

The latest recognition follows subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in early 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Valor Recognition in July 2024.

"The responses of all three officers ultimately saved themselves and meant no bystanders suffered any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, as stated by authorities.
