Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
